A Dedicated Veterinarian, Dog Trainer and Lifelong Animal Lover
Just for Barks was established in 2012 by Odette, who was born in Mexico City. Her passion was defined at a very young age, when she spent her childhood rescuing and helping stray animals.
This love for animals was reflected in her career choice when she received her Large Animal Veterinarian Degree in Mexico. She later met her husband who was a dog trainer in French Ring Sport and they bonded over their mutual love and admiration in working with animals. They opened a dog training school where their training focused in obedience, behavior modification, police, and personal security dogs. Odette also hosted a radio program with workshops focusing on children and pet interaction for dog-loving families alike. When they moved to Canada, Odette was a stay-at-home mom to raise their two kids.
Once her children grew up, she acquired her Dog Show Grooming Certificate in Mexico City, and completed her practices in Scottsdale, Arizona. When she returned to Canada, she worked at a dog grooming salon and she continued to provide private dog training classes. She furthered her education by exceeding in the Business program at Capilano University.
Our Facility
Just for Barks is located in North Vancouver at 140-400 Brooksbank Avenue. With easy access to the highway, the Second Narrows Bridge, and other accommodations, it is the ideal place to drop your dog off on your way to work.
Perfect for Your Pooch
Our daycare is a cozy and eco-friendly space designed specifically for dogs and was built using recycled wood to save trees. We offer special beds made to release tension from uncomfortable pressure points and soft flooring to reduce the impact on paws and joints.
The facility also has a movable wall to provide spacious areas for different groups. We also have televisions and speakers that play soothing music and regular household noise to keep the environment familiar.
